Samsung is one hell of a company that will always be crazy enough to push its smartphones in every possible direction. The latest rumour is that its next phone z3 will be based on the tizen os which has been developed with collaboration of Samsung, Intel and Linux organization.

Tizen is believed to be an alternate to the android operating system that rules the world of smart phones with iOS coming next in the line. The third major horse is the windows phone operating system which hasn’t seen much success with its smartphones. To establish the tizen os, Samsung has tried various strategies. Without the apps, nobody will buy a tizen based phone, so Samsung has decided to use the tizen os in its smartwatches and smart TV which has seen some success.

But to launch it on a phone will require huge amount of resources and developer community that will produce various kinds of useful apps. Tizen based phone have seen a rocky start with delay after delay that made people lose interest in its phones. Samsung decides to make a controlled launch in India to test the waters and it has been a success, the z1 which launched with tizen os sold more units than anticipated. Encouraged by this success, Samsung wants launch its successor called as the z3 with tizen os v3.0 with improved performance and battery life. The z3 will have a 5 inch 720p resolution display that is of AMOLED. 1.5 GB ram and a snapdragon 410 chipset that is midrange to power the phone.8 MP camera in the back and a 5 MP Selfie camera in the front. Dual sim capabilities are also expected.

Mind you that the mid-ranged handset will be available only in India and few other countries such as Nepal and Bangladesh. Samsung wants to break free from the google stronghold that controls the android os with Samsung having relatively little freedom in tweaking the os. Let’s wait and watch how the tizen os will perform in the given market conditions where the smartphone sales have been sluggish and consumers losing interest in the latest handset due to lack of defining features.
