Samsung is working on flexible display technologies which will add true bendable qualities to various devices. Yesterday some of the investors were invited to see some concept mobile devices on which Samsung is right now working. No press were allowed to the event and investors were also not allowed to take any photographs of these concept devices.
One of the attendee H. Lee, an analyst with Daiwa Securities said “The first one they showed us was the size of a Galaxy S3 smartphone which can be folded in half from top to bottom. So like a compact powder used by women,”
He further added that there was another concept device folded like a wallet and when opened it became a tablet.
Such devices “would further expand Samsung’s competitive advantage in premium smartphones,” Sundeep Bajikar, an analyst with Jefferies LLC who flew in to attend the event, wrote in a research note.
Many companies including Sony, Apple and LG are heavily working on foldable display devices. But it looks like Samsung wants to grab all media and investors attentions as the company is making sure to bring a true foldable device as early as 2015.
One Samsung spokesperson clear the air on these concept devices and said that the Samsung right no does not have all the component to develop a flexible display mobile device but it is working hard to make this technology a reality.
Samsung is the first company to lunch a curved display smartphone, Samsung Round last month.
