Samsung Galaxy S4 caught fire and exploded in Man’s jacket pocket because of faulty battery. Manolo Rodriguez who was the unlucky user of the fault Galaxy S4 said he first heard a strange sound coming from the device and then it became extremely hot.
“I tried to reach for the phone and pull it out, but it was too hot,” said Rodriguez. “So I retracted my hand, closed the zipper and then unzipped the center one so I could get my jacket off.”
Rodriguez was in a Goodwill store when this incident happened, so he threw the jacket on the store floor. The phone exploded and caught fire.
“If I had been talking on the phone or something, it could have exploded in my face,” added the man. “It could have been worse.”
After this incident Rodriguez hired an attorney and wants to get Samsung to recall all 20 million Galaxy S4 units it sold.
Samsung is investigating this incident to find out the root cause of the problem. In may cases smartphone become hot when put to long under sun or if third part incompatible battery is used. But in this incident Rodriguez was using the original battery which came with Galaxy S4.
