Samsung Electronics will now take on a new Android security process that basically fast tracks the security patches over the air (OTA) when new security vulnerabilities are uncovered.
Samsung has also stated that these security updates will take place regularly, once every month. The South Korean company has also fast tracked security updates to its Galaxy devices with the recent Android Stagefright issues.
Now the company wants to further develop this process and implement it as a timely security update practice as time is very important in addressing major vulnerabilities.
Dong Jin Koh the Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Research and Development Office, IT & Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics stated that keeping in mind the recent security issues that Android devices have been facing the company has decided to rethink the approach to getting security updates to its devices in a timely manner.
He explained that since the software is constantly exploited in new ways and that is why a fast response process to deliver security patches to the company’s devices is critical to keep them protected.
He also maintained that this new system will greatly improve the security of the company’s devices and will help in providing the best mobile experience to the company’s users. Samsung is also in talks with other carriers in order to implement this new approach.
