Google has released the next major version of its android mobile operating system, version 6.0 code named “marshmallow” which brings a host of new useful features such as individual app permission and native fingerprint support that will allow different app to use the finger print sensor to exchange the data or to work with other apps.
It also supports the new USB standard, that is the USB type-c (although Samsung has hasn’t yet released any phones with USB type-c port). It has the power, display port and data connection port all in the same connector. Google now on tap is one of my best feature for this android update. It gives the ability to gather almost every information with a voice command. You can now ask google some advanced commands such as “when did I eat at this restraint last time” or “get information about the store name that Andy has texted me”. It gathers all the useful information and lays them in a single screen.
All these features are cool but when will your galaxy device get the android update?
Well, Samsung is notoriously slow in updating its devices. Most of its phones are still awaiting the lollipop update. But Samsung has released a statement that it is working on a major update of android for its 2015 line up of galaxy devices indicating that the marshmallow updates will soon be available to the devices such as note 5, galaxy s6, s6 edge, s6 edge+ as soon as next month or earlier.
After these devices are updated, the next in the line is the galaxy a8 and the note 4 followed by galaxy s5 and s5 mini. Give them about 4 months to update all of these devices.
The following are the list of devices that will see the android marshmallow update within a time period of six months.
- Samsung Galaxy Note 5
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
- Samsung Galaxy S6
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Duos
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Duos
- Samsung Galaxy Note Edge
- Samsung Galaxy Alpha
- Samsung Galaxy Tab A
Some other devices will also get the update but are not listed.
