Samsung have pre-loaded an integrated theme engine on their latest flagship smartphones – The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Although, there are numerous theme engines and customizable launchers available on the Play Store, but none of them matches with the customizability of the integrated theme engine on these devices.
The integrated theme engine changes the overall look and feel of the device, including the notification panel, settings UI, icon packs, Music app, Calendar app, notification sounds, and pretty much anything. This level of theming used to require root privileges and the installation of custom ROMs on the android devices. Now with the S6 and S6 edge, users can customize the look and feel of their device completely, without any hassle.
Samsung has released numerous themes on their theme store, but none of them is as minimalist as the Google’s Materials UI. Most of the themes included on the Theme Store are comical, and are based on bright color schemes. However, there are no minimalistic themes available on the Theme Store, which resemble the Google’s Material UI featured in the original version of Android Lollipop.
A few days back, a developer on XDA forums released two theme packs featuring the Materials design by Google. Initially, the installation of these themes required root access. However, he has announced recently that his themes were approved by Samsung, and will be available on the Theme Store over the next few days. This is a very good news for those who want to experience the pure Android interface on their Samsung devices.
