Samsung’s Future Smartphones Could Project Holographic Icons

The US Patent & Trademark Office recently published a patent application from Samsung. The application basically reveals a smartphone which is capable of displaying a hologram.

The mobile device in the patent includes a main body which includes a screen, a light guide member disposed above the screen and an entrance optical member disposed on a surface of the light guide member.

Now when an area of the screen corresponding to the entrance optical member emits a light, a holographic image which is stored in the image hologram gets displayed above the light guide member.

Moreover the patent also gives a view that illustrates a mobile device capable of displaying a hologram according to an exemplary embodiment and another figure of the patent shows a cross sectional view which basically illustrates the mobile device capable of displaying a hologram.

The South Korean giant had filed its US patent application back in the third quarter of 2014. The time of when this product will be seen by market is still unknown.
