Samsung and Blackberry are the dominating names in the gadget world. According to recent news report, Samsung has offered Blackberry a buyout offer of approximately $7.5 billion! Now that is a big quote!
The initial price range that Samsung offered per share was somewhere between $13.35 to $15.49, representing 38 percent to 60 percent over Blackberry’s current trading price. Representatives of both the companies are in discussion with the advisers. They have asked not to declare this news as official yet, since this is still a private matter.
However, in contrast to this, the Canadian newspapers Globe and Mail have reported that Blackberry has rejected a handful of takeover offers in the past few months, since its largest investors think that restructuring the strategies will increase sales and deliver great shareholder value. The investors believe that the offering prizes fall well below Blackberry’s potential value. Samsung’s primary interest lies in IP, which might douse the hopes of those looking for Samsung to offer keyboard sporting smartphones.
In the past, Samsung has already shown interest in this enterprise. Taking over Blackberry would also give Samsung the company’s most promising divisions, the BES multi-platform, MDM solutions, and the BBM! Though IP is the main point of interest, Samsung will definitely not ignore these added benefits. However, no word of response yet has been heard from the executives of Blackberry.
