Samsung Stops Selling Paid Apps on Samsung Smart TV

Samsung will no longer support paid apps on it’s Smart TV and Blu-Ray platforms. The company notified all affected users through email. Samsung is also refunding all the users who bought apps through it’s Smart TV platform. But the free apps will be available to download and use.

The company says that despite this change a few paid applications will continue to work even after it stops selling them. However customers who have already bought those applications will not be entitled to a refund. Only those customers will be eligible for refunds who bought applications that will be removed from the Smart Hub.

Though Samsung did not give any reason for this move, but it is clear that Samsung did not find any good user response for paid apps on Smart TV platforms. So from now on only free apps are accessible.

Samsung also made it clear that all other streaming services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant will run like before without any changes.
