We are nearing the launch of the galaxy S7 at the unpacked event that will take place during the Mobile World Congress 2016 at Barcelona on march 11th. But we now have a clear picture of the phone’s features and how it looks. The latest reports indicate that the phone will now come with a hybrid sim card slot.
What this hybrid sim card slot will do is that it will allow a user to use either 2 sim cards simultaneously or use a single sim card along with a microSD card. The second port will support a sim card as well as a microSD memory card.
This isn’t the first devices to integrate a hybrid sim card slot, other phones such as xaomi’s mi4 used this kind of slot.
Samsung has been reinventing its phone with a new direction. Gone is the plastic design. The phones were excellent with no other being able to match the features in the top galaxy phones but the plastic design made even the premium phones feel cheap.
For this specific purpose Samsung has brought in the new glass and metal design into its phone but 2 of its most important features had to be sacrificed. The microSD card slot as well as the ability to remove the phone’s battery. Now with the hybrid sim card slot, Samsung is at least adding the ability to expand the internal storage if you top up the memory roof.
