Android 6.0.1 isn’t a big update when compared to the android 5.1.1 but it does bring some useful features such as now on tap and doze. Samsung Is typically slow in updating its phones to newer versions of software due to its extensive portfolio. Now user in south Korea, Samsung’s home turf, are reporting that the android 6.0.1 marshmallow update is hitting their phones over the air (OTA).
The only phones that are seeing this update are the galaxy S6 and the galaxy S6 edge. It shouldn’t be very long before Samsung updates its other flagships from 2015, galaxy S6 edge+ and the note 5, to the android 6.0.1. the bad news is that only the users from south Korea are getting the update and nobody from other parts of the world are getting lucky today. But that might change very soon.
Samsung has taken its time to update the phones. It has conducted a beta program for some users and with useful feedback from them, Samsung is rolling out this update today with many bug fixes and added functionality and features.
Some cosmetic changes make the user interface more intuitive. It is reported that Samsung has been heavily cutting down on the bloatware that it usually fills the touchwiz with. The additional load on the processor is bogging down the phone considerably affecting the overall mobile experience. It is also rumoured that google has actually developed the newest version of touchwiz with Samsung’s own engineering team to make it as fast and smooth as possible.
We are yet to review the android 6.0.1 marshmallow laden galaxy S6 and will update our thoughts on the newest flavour for the galaxy S6 as soon as we get our hands on it.
