It is not a surprise that Samsung announces a new phone almost every week. Last week we saw the Samsung announced Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the company’s best bet to pull it back to profitability. And this week Samsung announced another phone, not so high-end, but for budget customers.
Samsung released the original Galaxy Win almost 2 years ago and today it announced its successor, the Galaxy Win 2 in Brazil. There is nothing fancy about the new Android 4.4.4 KitKat powered smartphone. Still no Android Lollipop, that makes us think again, “Why a new Android phone without the latest OS?”.
The phone has a mid-ranged hardware. It features a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP front snapper, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage (expandable via microSD), and a 2,000 mAh battery. Like many other phones of 2015, the phone has 4G LTE for better browsing, video streaming and other social media activities. The phone supports dual-SIM though, which is a good feature for many users. Its dimensions are 131 x 68.1 x 8.8 mm, and it weighs 130g. The phone has a 5 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front shooter for better video chat and selfies.
The Galaxy Win 2 is already up for grabs in Brazil in black and gray. Recommended prices are BRL 729 ($233) for the version without digital TV, and BRL 779 ($249) for the one that does have that feature.
