The South Korean tech giant company seem to be developing a brand-new flip phone. The device is wearing the model number SM-W2018, which indirectly makes it a sequel to last year’s SM-W2017. Also, this model has been recently certified in China’s regulatory agency TENAA. The device is rumored to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC, alongside with 4GB of RAM. Today, according to a new report, the device is rumored to have the Snapdragon 835 SoC alongside with 6GB of RAM, which is quite a boost for the device.
With these specifications, this device will be the most powerful flip phone from Samsung to date. Also, the flip phone devices have been hitting the markets in China, where they are also mostly successful. Samsung have been successful with the Galaxy Folder 2 flip phone so far, which made them famous in China. The SM-W2018 could also feature a 4.2-inch display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Alongside that, the camera will also might feature 12-megapixel on the rear-facing camera, and 5-megapixel on the front-facing camera. There could be also a 2300 mAh battery power.
Last year’s SM-W2017 was officially introduced in China in November 2016 alongside with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The device features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also has a 4.2-inch Super AMOLED FullHD displays, 2300 mAh battery and similar pair of cameras like the sequel we just leaked. Having this info in mind, we can see that the SM-W2018 will retain some of the last year’s device. The new model though might feature a fingerprint sensor, and also featuring the newest Snapdragon SoC with a bit more RAM as well.
The device has not been officially confirmed by Samsung yet, so we should take this with a consideration, and wait for further news from Samsung.
