Samsung Mobile Head Takes a Huge Pay Cut After Smartphone Profit Slows Down

Samsung’s mobile division is not as profitable as it was some time back and as a result the head of Samsung mobile head JK Shin is taking less salary and bonus this quarter.

In fact, this quarter JK Shin earned around $630,000 in salary and bonus, which is less than half the amount ($1.5 million) he earned just a quarter earlier.

Samsung is loosing the competition in the middle and low cost segment, where Chinese companies like Xiomi are gaining the market share. As a matter of fact Xiomi is now the third largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. The Chinese company doubled its shipment compared to last quarter.

Though Samsung is still world largest smartphone maker with a 24 percent market share in terms of volume, it has a lot of things to worry about.

Samsung recently launched Galaxy A3 and A5 metallic body smartphones to provide premium quality in mid-segment to compete with cheap Chinese phones.
