Apple has released its latest phone, the iPhone SE. it’s a small phone with 4-inch screen size. That may be tiny by today’s standards but the internals are as powerful as they can get. The iPhone SE is dubbed as the iPhone 5S with the guts of the iPhone 6S.
The bigger question is: should Samsung make a 4-inch superphone counter the iPhone SE?
Well, I don’t think so. Apple is a victim of its own success as it depends heavily on the iPhone for its monstrous revenues. But the iPhone sales have hit the wall off late and Apple is afraid of losing the steam in the sales engine. Making a cheaper iPhone with 4.7-inch screen size would cannibalize the sales of $650 iPhone 6S. hence, it had to make a smaller phone with a low price tag ($399) to get as many people onboard as possible.
It is also believed that the smaller iPhone SE is for Chinese and Indian users where lots of people still use a feature phone.
Samsung on the other hands is making phones that have a big screen with relatively smaller bezels. Making a 4-inch phone makes no sense to Samsung now. It is working on the Galaxy S7 mini but even this phone has a 4.7-inch display.
I do believe that there are people who still enjoy a smaller phone with a 4-inch screen size or have small hands. But that percentage of people is quite fractional. Samsung has a perfect phone in-form of Galaxy S7 and going back on the screen size is like going backwards and not worth investing your resources in.
