I very much like the active line in the galaxy range of smartphones from Samsung. The s5 active was one hell of a phone before I had to upgrade to an iPhone 6s. Now a video surfaced online that shows the durability of this durable phone. This excellent phone that is rugged to endure and win over the daily torture that you will subject it to comes with a monstrous battery life.

The armour around the phone is the selling point of the device or else why wouldn’t you opt for the more beautiful galaxy s6 edge?

The torture tests involved playing hockey with the phone. Yes, the phone as a hockey puck and it will be slided against hockey sticks and will be subjected to slap shots that could kill the phone in an instant due to the level of impact.

The phone worked perfectly fine after tackling it for a couple of minutes as the hockey puck. It even survived the water test. What was blowing my mind was that the tough armour protected the phone against 2 slap shots and came out without a single scratch on it. Although the phone was destroyed when it hit goal post, it a lot to ask from your smartphone to endure such brutal test. The fact that the phone could survives even after playing a couple of minutes of full on hockey stands testimony of the brilliance of this phone.

In other news, AT&T has started selling the 64 GB variant of the galaxy s6 active. The non-expandable storage sort of dampened this phone from greatness earlier. This phone is available for $299 with a 2-year contract.

Although you miss the fingerprint sensor and expandable storage, the galaxy s6 active is the dark horse for Samsung this year.
