Samsung has been working hard on its devices lately and that is reflected in its smartphones and smartwatches. The Gear S2 and the galaxy s6 are generally refined products that are a major departure from Samsung’s previous design in hardware as well as software. Now Samsung is working on a bio-processor based fitness devices that looks like the Gear S2 but couldn’t be any different.

This fitness tracker has a model number SM-R150 attached to it. It features the same circular display that made the Gear S2 look absolutely beautiful. The rotating bezel make a return improving the navigation of the interface. But I think that this bio-processor based device naturally looks better than the Gear S2 with its fine metallic accents and silicon bands.

The targeted consumers are also different. The bio-processor will be able to measure the amount of fat content of the body and it can also count the number of repetitions the wearer has performed with a period of time. it also measures the water intake and the sleep cycle.

Apparently Samsung is readying an accessory that will allow the user to wear it like a batch on the chest. The use of this mode is not known.

The Gear S2 was an excellent device but was priced high. The cost was $350 for the base model. The expensive 3g variant and classic variant did not help the sales.

So to win the smartwatch industry where the Apple Watch reigns supremacy, Samsung wants this bio-processor based fitness tracker to sell in huge volumes. Along with superb fitness parameter measurement, Samsung is also pricing this fitness tracker relatively lower than the Gear S2. Maybe in the range of Fitbit devices will be great but that would be wishful thinking.

Stay tuned for more information on this device.
