The Samsung Galaxy S5 mini has been officially confirmed to be receiving an update to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. The update is said to be released next month although an official time hasn’t been given. Samsung and its affiliated carriers have been rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop updates to the company devices since a long time now.
The Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 have both already received the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the US soil on all major carriers including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile. Other Samsung handsets that have received the update include the Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3.
It seems that now Samsung has turned its attention to the less popular variants of its flagship smartphones such as the Galaxy S5 Active and the Galaxy S5 Sport. Both these variants have received the update already. However these variants have received the basic version of Lollipop but Samsung Denmark has stated that the Galaxy S5 Mini will receive the 5.0.1 version of the Lollipop.
The Galaxy S5 mini is available in the US on both US Cellular and AT&T which recently introduced the phone to their lineup in March. Up till now there is no official date about when the update will start to roll out but it will be pretty soon. Apart from this the Galaxy S5 is also said to receive an Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update at some point.
