Some days ago we talked about a rumor from inside Samsung, the Galaxy O series that might be coming out. Well today Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster stated that this new line could be based on collaboration between Samsung and Oculus Rift. This means that the Galaxy O series handsets would be centered on virtual reality.

Oculus will be holding its Connect2 event this year in Hollywood from the 23rd till the 25th of September. Gene Munster also stated that the Galaxy O series could most probably be unveiled during this time period.

He also explained that if a new VR centric smartphone is not in the works then we could see Samsung and Oculus introduce a new stand-alone VR headset. Furthermore Munster stated that there are many advantages to a stand-alone VR headset.

He explained that such a device could be equipped with a unique GPU that could offer better graphics than what a smartphone offers. Moreover a VR headset would most probably feature a higher resolution display.
