Samsung Indonesia has leaked a video by error that was intended for promotional purposes after the handset had been officially released. This is not a teaser, the video blows away any cover that Samsung has managed to put on the galaxy s7 amidst the leaks and shows the handset and its features in all its glory. One of the important feature shown in the video is that the galaxy s7 will be waterproof.
Samsung galaxy s5 was a superphone but it did not sell in numbers that Samsung would have liked. So naturally, Samsung dropped the cheap plastic design in favour of a more premium glass and metal construction. The result was that the successor, galaxy s6, was one of the most beautifully crafted phone on the market when it released. But all this came at a cost. Samsung had to drop some significant features to make this possible.
Some of them being the ability to remove the battery, expandable storage and the IP68 rating (water and dust proof certification).
Samsung is now bringing back at least some of the features. The galaxy s7 will reportedly have an expandable storage slot and as clearly shown in the video, it will be waterproof. But to what level it can stop the water into seeping onto the internals will be known only after Samsung officially introduces the phone at the mobile world congress.
One of the other feature touted in the video is the wireless charging. The galaxy s6 had wireless charging capabilities but the galaxy s7 will feature the next generation of charging technologies significantly reducing the charging times. With other features such as Samsung’s version of apple’s live photos, pressure sensitive display that can measure the third type of touch, the galaxy s7 is turning out to be the most interesting phone since the iPhone 6s released.
