Galaxy S5 is Samsung’s best smartphone till now, but for consumers this is not enough. A new report suggests that Galaxy S5 sales are 40% less than what Samsung predicted. Samsung released Galaxy S5 in April and it was aimed to take on Apple iPhone 6.
A recent report on Wall Street Journal published on Sunday reveals that Samsung sold 12 million Galaxy S5 in the first three months of release, while the company sold 16 million Galaxy S4 during the same period. These figures came directly from someone who has knowledge about Samsung’s future plans.
Samsung on its part never released any actual Galaxy S5 sales figure, but revealed in the last quarterly report that the company has a huge drop in profit, mainly due to the mobile business.
As a result, Samsung is thinking to remove some of its top executives from current positions, including current mobile head J.K. Shin. B.K. Yoon, who currently serves as chief executive of the company’s home appliances and television operations, Wall Street Journal reports, will replace him.
When Samsung is going to execute these new bold steps to come back in smartphone race is unknown at this moment. But taking into Samsung’s past history, it is oblivious that the company will take some hard decisions soon.
