Yes, it true. Sony has made an app for the Samsung TVs in its push for game streaming called as the PlayStation now. PlayStation now will let you play ps4, ps3 and PlayStation classic games on your TV without any console hardware.

The way to achieve such a feat is called as game streaming. Game streaming for the PlayStation now is similar to Spotify and Netflix services except that here, instead of music and videos, games will be streamed to the Samsung TV. All the extra hardware that you will need is the dualshock 4 controller which will be used for playing the game. Costs about $65.

The actual hardware that runs the game will be the PlayStation now cloud servers and when you play the game, the command from the controller reaches the tv and then to the cloud server. The cloud then streams the given action in the game to the TV thus eliminating the need of having a dedicated hardware to run the game. There is no detectable gaming lag while playing.

The connection needed to stream the game is very respectable 5 mbps internet speed and the game runs like it’s next to the console quality. The price for playing a game will vary from game to game, still you can play the game for under $5 if you can finish within a week. The catalogue for the game is wide and loads of PlayStation hit are included such as god of war and the uncharted series. PlayStation classic from the ps2 era are also available.

The PlayStation now app is only available for Samsung TVs that were launched as a part of 2015 lineup.check for the list of TV in Samsung website to see if your TV is supported.Would you play the games in PlayStation now or would you rather buy a dedicated console?
