Samsung is known for creating some crazy technologies. But the Korean giant also knows when to encourage others who are in the process of making a crazy technology.

Samsung’s in-house start-up company that was founded by former Samsung employees, called as salted venture, has built a smart shoe that will be able to much more than your Nike sneakers. This product is being called as IoFIT sneakers and was first shown at the world mobile congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain.

These smart athletic sneakers will be fitted with a variety of pressure sensors and accelerometer that will be able to track the parameters such as the standing position, weight distribution and the stability of the entire body while performing a specific action.

There is a companion smartphone app that will analyse the data and help you in increasing the performance in whatever sport you play like weightlifting, sprinting and golf.

“Balance is an essential aspect of all fitness workouts and golf swing mechanism,” explained Jacob Cho, CEO of Salted Venture. “Without it, there is greater exposure to injury and wasteful energy consumption, making fitness workouts a lot less effective and [more] dangerous. For golf, proper balance and weight shift is crucial to generating club head speed and power. We wanted to solve this problem not just with our guts, but with actual data telling us how we are performing.”

The IoFIT could revolutionize the sports with its analysis and performance enhancement indicators. Imagine a baseball coach who wants to enhance the performance of his team. Normally he would have a hard time tweaking the performance of individual players but with the IoFIT sneakers, all the data needed is right on his screen. Every player can be monitored and his individual faults can be corrected in an effective manner.

The developers believe that gathering data is insufficient in enhancing the performance, the IoFIT will be able to analyse the data as well as suggest the appropriate coaching advice.

The smart shoes are now a reality and are up for preorder on Kickstarter. the pair will retail for $200 and will start shipping in February next year.
