Do you remember the time when the nokia feature phone could last a week without getting plugged in?
Well those days might return. Samsung and LG are hell bent on improving the most requested feature that today’s tech users ask for. A decent screen on time that will last at least 2 days. Samsung SDI, a division of the Samsung electronics that specializes in newer technology has unveiled a new battery that is impossibly thin and can last up to 50% longer than the best battery that is available today.
It showed us two types of battery that are just 0.3mm thick. Those are the strip and band type battery. The strip battery can be used in newer type of wearable such as necklaces and hair band. The band type battery can power your wearables for impossibly long and can reshape itself into any form. They have been bent 50,000 times without any damage or loss in battery capacity. Now you can actually have a battery hidden in the leather strip of your smartwatch.
That is not everything that we have to report today, the other Korean giant, LG, has also shown its newer batteries. I was still waiting for the battery to be shown when all that came out was a simple wire. LG has succeeded in making wire batteries. This battery can be bent into half without getting damaged. The other experimental component is the hexagonal battery. This component will double the device-on time of the smartwatch and the space taken up by it will be the same as earlier batteries.
All that is fine but, the real benefit would be when these experimantal technologies make an appearance in the smartphone, the most used device in the world and make a bigger impact on its screen on time
