Reports start coming in that Samsung is testing the newest chipset from QUALCOMM, the Snapdragon 820, rigorously and that Samsung was one of the first client to receive the Snapdragon 820 chipsets. Samsung want to power its next flagship, galaxy s7 with the best possible chipset that will be available and the Snapdragon seems to be making quiet the impression. The Snapdragon 810 was dropped from its phones by Samsung concerning overheating problems.
If powered by the Snapdragon 820, the galaxy s7 will have super fast data speeds at 600 Mbps of LTE cat 12 download speeds and 150 Mbps upload speed(LTE cat 13). The speeds are mind boggling as the previous highest download speed for mobile CPU was 450 Mbps. That’s a full one third improvement. Although the speeds in the real world depend on the carrier, it is nice to have a chipset that can provide such speeds.
The Snapdragon will also support what Qualcomm call as the LTE unlicensed.
“Qualcomm gives you the whole explanation at their blog, but the general hint is that this process allows network operators to install “small cells” in areas with high data demand. Supported devices can then take advantage of both the network towers and these WiFi router-sized antennas, aggregating the data and using it as a single, faster connection.” says Android authority
The chip will also support what is called as smart wifi. The Snapdragon 820 supports 802.11ac 2×2 MU-MIMO, which can double or triple speeds in crowded networks. The chip also includes support for 802.11ad WiFi, giving Smartphone the ability to handle multi-Gigabit speeds.
One of the most wanted feature will also make an appearance. Faster charging ability. With the new Snapdragon 820, the battery can be charged 27% faster. What this means is that your next Smartphone will charge from 0% to 80% in just under 35 minutes. How awesome is that.
