Samsung smartwatch may be called “GEAR” or Galaxy watch

Samsung is definitely in smartwatch race, but may be cautiously waiting for others to enter the league first. Samsung filed for a new trademark “GEAR” in US. While the primary description suggests the name could apply to literally anything, the secondary one specifically focuses on watches, clocks, wristbands, bracelets and the like which can communicate with phones, PCs and tablets using the internet and other communication methods.
After SONY announced SmartWatch 2 and companies like Apple and Qualcomm already working on their smartwatch offerings it will be sooner or later Samsung will announce a smartwatch.
Samsung Wins Against Apple in Latest Japanese Patent Suit

Tokyo Intellectual Property High Court ruled in favour of Samsung and uphold the Tokyo District Court’s decision from August last year that ruled Samsung to not infringe Apple’s synchronization patent. The patent involved synchronizing music and video data on its Galaxy smartphones and tablets with servers. This is a major setback for Apple.
Similarly last week Apple won an important patent case against Samsung in Japan where Apple accused Samsung stealing it’s much hyped “bounce-back” patent. The feature causes the icons or images on a device’s screen to “bounce” when a user scrolls to the end of a file.
Samsung and Apple are fighting patent war all over the world and it does not look like there will be some settlement in near future.
Tokyo Court Ruled Samsung Infringed Apple ‘Bounce-Back’ Patent

Samsung-Apple patent war is not going to end soon. In a recent development a Tokyo District court ruled that Samsung infringed one of the Apple patent. The patent in this case is the “bounce-back patent. The feature causes the icons or images on a device’s screen to “bounce” when a user scrolls to the end of a file.
This ruling is not the final verdict and the case will continue in the court as the court figures out appropriate compensation for Apple.
Samsung’s recent mobile devices do not use this feature any more. Instead now if someone scrolls too far on a current Samsung device, the screen will show a blue light instead.
Let’s wait and watch where this ugly fight is going to head in coming days.
Samsung’s “Unicorn Apocalypse” Is Waste of Time

Samsung released a game called “Unicorn Apocalypse” in Google play store and guess what, it got the worst feedback. Particularly in the U.S. Samsung is currently trying to conquer the B2B market. As the trend goes to BYOD (“bring your own device”), are special SAFE devices with encryption chip to be the solution for businesses because employees will no longer need two devices more.
Samsung advertises the SAFE appliances with a fictitious company, which brings the total price match suspicious “Unicorn Apocalypse” on the market and, of course, need to provide sufficient protection for employees. During these commercials Samsung USA has launched a competition to have the game program from advertising. The result is an app that now - - only in the U.S. has landed in the Google Play Store . Poor 2 star clears the app and actually looks like the gameplay, as programmed in five days to dust off for a prize money of Samsung.

- After about a minute of gameplay, you fall off the edge and there’s just fire. You still collect points, but the unicorn isn’t on the screen.
- If you’re going to make a series of commercials and then release the game they advertise, you have to know significant quality is expected. This game is nothing more than another poor ripoff of Robot Unicorn Attack.
- The game has terrible lag and a rip off of rainbow unicorn, you would expect better quality for a game that has ben advertised on commercials
Samsung Largest Applicant at European Patent Office

With 2289 patents Samsung tops the list of applications filing at European Patent Office. The top five companies overall were Samsung, Siemens, BASF, General Electric, and LG.
The top five countries for filings in 2012 were: the United States (24.6 per cent), Japan (20.1 per cent), Germany (13.3 per cent), China (7.3 per cent), and South Korea (5.6 per cent). The top from Europe after Germany were: France (4.7 per cent), Switzerland (3.2 per cent), the United Kingdom (2.6 per cent) and the Netherlands (2.5 per cent).
