5 Powerful Tips to Pull the Best from Your Samsung Galaxy Tab S3

5 galaxy tab S3 tips featured imageSome Android OEMs have backed off making tablets over the last couple of years. Apparently, that’s not the case for Samsung. The Galaxy Tab S3 is a premium tablet with glass chassis and sleek metal and it also ships with a redesigned S Pen. Here are 5 tips that can help you to take full advantage of this tablet!

Customize quick settings

The Tab S3 ships with Android Nougat which means that you have standard customizable quick settings. To edit your quick screen, open it and tap the menu button at the top of the screen. From here you can reorder or change the layout. When reordering, long press and drag to move, add or remove tiles. The few tiles on top will remain visible in your notification shade. With the button layout option, you can either set a 4×3 or 5×3 grid for your quick settings. The looser grid makes each icon larder and easier to tap and can help you if you don’t need access to many settings.

Change icon and text size

The Tab S3 has a spacious 9.7-inch screen, but a lot of space is wasted by setting the default icon and text size to “ginormous”. You can make it a little smaller with just a couple of taps. Open Settings > Display > Screen zoom and font then use the slider to change the zoom and font size the way it suits you. We would recommend setting it at the smallest setting, but you can also make them slightly bigger. The smaller you will set them the more content can fit on the screen.

Customize Air Command

Air Command offers quick access to stylus oriented features. Press the S Pen’s button and Air Command will appear. You can add your own shortcuts on it and also you can remove the existing ones. Open Air Command and tap the “Add shortcut” button. The active shortcuts are listed on the right of the screen. Tap any application on the left to add/remove it from the list. There is an option to hide the floating Air Command bubble when it’s not in use. To do so, go to Advanced features > S Pen > Air Command > Floating icon.

S Pen text selection

On Android, you can select and copy text from a lot of places, but the Tab S3 and S Pen can select almost any text that. Just press and hold the S Pen button and drag it across the text you want to highlight. It works on home screen, applications and menus. When highlighted you can copy, share or define text with the built-in dictionary.

Split-screen and Pop-up View

The Galaxy Tab S3 is the most powerful tablet for multitasking. Split-screen is supported in almost all applications. The quickest way to open split-screen mode is off by default. Go into Settings > Advanced features > multi-window and turn on “Split-screen view action”. It lets you long-press the overview button to move an application to split-screen.

With its custom Pop-up View, you can also have apps run in a floating window. It doesn’t work with all apps but still, it can be handy. To open Pop-up View, drag down from the top left or right corner to set the window size. With these two features being active at the same time you can have a desktop-like experience.
